''The Merchant of Alexandria''
Ambitious and astute Sohan has worked diligently and with flair to establish himself in the world of troublesome affairs.
Visionary, some would say right time-right place, nudge-nudge wink-wink don't mention the Suez Canal, his business relationships have (al)most naturally turned into amicable ties: Lord George and Lady Blanche are always thrilled to welcome a well-travelled guest.
A master key can open many doors.
It is natural that this perfume should be considered highly exotic (read unusual). Because surprise has a perfect setting when grounded in the unknown — and indeed many of those who dwell on the British Isles have only read of Constantinople. Or Rome. Or indeed Alexandria, and here straight from this Egyptian trading port (via London, of course) one discovers the manly and very disconcerting power of the rose.
But a thoroughly unfamiliar rose. A rose with oversized thorns. A rose that knows nothing of coy discretion (pepper rose). That booms with joy from the very beginning (vetiver). — Crescendo is just not its thing. —But it loves to linger like a distracted lover. The santal brings the memory of an eternal caress and it’s blended with saffron to remind us that love is often hot.
And as any Oud worth its salt, it is a troubling exaggeration of everything that is animalistic, deep and strong.
Woody - Chypre
Notes: Pepper rose, Vetiver, Oud
