Each Imaginary Authors fragrance is inspired by a novel, and this one, Yesterday Haze by Lenora Blumberg, takes us on a journey of adultery on the west coast, San Joaquin Valley to be exact.
We love Fig when it is done right and we think that this fragrance has just the right touch, it must be the Tonka and the Iris that rounds it out perfectly.
“Yesterday Haze,” the subtly sinister follow-up to Lenora Blumberg’s acclaimed debut “Violet Disguise,” tells the story of a farmer’s wife who, after maintaining a decades-long affair with a crop duster pilot, decides to come clean to her husband (who also happens to be her lover’s employer).
“The memory of him is a rifle in my mouth,” Blumberg wrote, “and the scent of fig its trigger.” Set in California’s tranquil and dusty San Joaquin Valley, the elaborate tale unfolds like a dream, delicately shifting perceptions like the colors of a dimming dusk.
Notes: Fig, Iris, Cream Tonka, Tree Bark, Walnut Bitters & Orchard Dust
I loved this from the sample Etiket provided in another shipment and this was one that intrigued me the most. Let’s start with the unboxing…The presentation is very cute it’s a sealed fooler book that is magnetic and when you open the book the perfume is presented as if it is the story below the bottle there is another sample scent. Great thing is I can put it in my bookcase!!
The scent is gourmand and with first spray it reminds me of a childhood memory of watching salt water taffy being made. Then as the scent mellows I get walnuts roasting on an open fire. Then I am presented with a lactonic woody fig scent on my skin. This would be a fantastic cool summer night or fall scent. I love the complexity of this formula!
