Each Imaginary Authors fragrance is inspired by a novel, and this one, Memoirs of a Trespasser by Philip Sava, is a story that is as much real as it is fiction.

You just don’t know when you cross the line.

We know for sure that this is a fragrance for oriental lovers, the Vanilla blended perfectly with a woody texture, yes texture, that softens as the day progresses.

The early exploration writing of Philip Sava bent the limits of post-modern fiction, revealing fantastical worlds that fooled many into believing they were, in fact, real.

Sava’s kaleidoscopic collections, of which Memoirs of a Trespasser is the undeniable centerpiece, drew upon true experiences from his exotic travels but were infused with a hallucinatory inventiveness that set his work apart from others in the genre.

Though Sava had associates all over the world, he spent most of his time living in solitude on a ranch in southern Madagascar. When interrogated by the press on his cloistered lifestyle he notoriously answered, “Who needs love when you have cognac?

Memoirs of a Trespasser est mon favori, devant Every Storm a Serenade (4/5) et Violet in Disguise (3/5).

Beautiful fragrance, simple without being simplistic or boring. Under the undebatebly dominating vanilla lies a kind of humble complexity that adds textures and emotions in a kind of far-off, difficult to pin down way*...
So a 'simple' fragrance, first because the notes blend so seamlessly that it's hard for me to tell them apart. To my nose, this perfume is 80% Madagascar vanilla, creamy and elegant, 9% resins/'warmth' (the myrrh, benzoin and ambrette), 9% 'cinder'/'dust'/'dryness', and just a little opening 'kick', an added layer that I couldn't describe and was gone within the first 15-20 minutes of wear.
A 'simple' frangrance also in that the drydown isn't much different from the opening. You know what you're in for upon first spraying it, if you will.
Lastly, 'simple' in the sense that it is a very wearable fragrance, again without being 'simplistic', 'boring' or 'juvenile'. Very sweet and creamy, yet not cloying.
An elegant and comforting fragrance, that could probably be layered with another perfume you wish to 'vanillize'.
I had applied it 1-2 hours before bed, and upon waking I would say it still projected to about 50% of initial strength, so very good longevity also.
Out of the 3 Imaginary Authors samples I ordered, Memoirs of a Trespasser is my favourite, followed by Every Storm a Serenade (4/5) and Violet in Disguise (3/5).
*Somebody left a review on another site mentionning getting a note of clove. It isn't listed, but I immediately went 'Yes! Definitely, there is clove in there...'.
