Histoires de Parfums 1828 is that houses' homage to Jules Verne - French writer, playwright, social activist, pioneer of a science-fiction writing. Reflecting that elegant age, 1828 opens up with an elegant touch of citruses, fresh, light, with elements of spice and pine wood and a touch of eucalyptus, surrounding the juicy citrus notes of predominantly tangerine with hints of lime and grapefruit although not as grapefruity a note as perhaps Hermes Pamplemousse Rose. Refreshing, and understated, it then develops a nice pepper and nutmeg undertone as time passes. This eventually becomes the dominant theme in the drydown, which evolves even more to take on an incense tone that nicely compliments the pinewood notes. The spice notes of nutmeg and pepper are still there, surfacing from time to time, in a counterpoint of scents. Longevity was average at about 5 hours and projection was quite good. All in all a very wearable scent, especially, one would imagine for an 80 day world jaunt! Passepartout- the luggage, vite!
