Sunset people, neon signs, sultry glamour.
The story
Says creator Nick Steward:
“Los Angeles is a place which fires the imagination – especially as I’ve
never learnt to drive a car, so – shock, horror – I explore the city on foot, bike and bus.”
“To me it feels like a borderland, an intersection of many worlds. The different ethnic neighbourhoods, the hills, the endless freeways ... there’s colour and drama and I wanted to capture that feeling of movement, excitement and new beginnings ...”
Nick explains “with the fragrance I wanted to evoke a sultry, shimmering Hollywood. Homes hanging on to the dry earth hillsides, eucalyptus and clary sage, a breeze from the Pacific Ocean. I wanted to conjure up the whoosh of cars. Hot tarmac under the Californian sun, the rubber of limousine wheels cruising along Sunset Blvd. Red tail lights. Fruit smoothies and post-gym selfies. Tiki bars and pineapple cocktails. Neon lights. Pink sunsets. Dry ice and disco lights.”
Los Angeles is a hot and sensual woody floral, cooled with a marine breeze fragrance.
The perfume notes:
The perfumer – Karine Chevallier
To create the Los Angeles fragrance, founder Nick Steward worked again with indie Paris-based perfumer Karine Chevallier.
Says Nick “I wanted Karine to do this perfume, after the work she’d done on our London fragrance (a finalist in the Art & Olfaction Awards.) I knew she’d be able to translate Los Angeles’ drama, beauty and contradictions.”
And Karine adds “I set out to evoke the energy, the colours and the sun-drenched sexiness of this amazing megacity.”
