The term “Coromandel” derives from the homonymous Indian coast, where screens and other furniture coming from China were loaded on ships carrying goods in Europe and from which the taste of exoticism, later called Chinoiserie, began to develop starting from the 18th century Coromandel was designed for the first time by Piero Fornasetti in the fifties and tells of his interest in natural forms, floral decorations, leaves and small animals, revealing, together, his precise taste for exoticism.
