Sahajan is an evidence based natural skin care brand based on the 5,000 year old science of Ayurveda. Derived from the Hindi word for “intuitive” – Sahajan brings you the evidence to follow your intuition and choose clean beauty.
Ayurveda, translated from Sanskrit, means the Science of Life. It’s a mind-body science that reminds that us we need to be in balance. Modern day stressors, the environment, and our diet get us out of balance. Ayurveda seeks to understand each person’s unique needs and looks to plant-based remedies, yoga, meditation and other practices to achieve that balance.
The founder, Lisa Mattam, is a former pharmaceutical executive, who after discovering her daughter covered in her commercial skin care products one day and worrying about the chemicals that were in those products, decided to turn to her family's roots to develop her own Ayurvedic skin care brand. It was important to Lisa to build a brand that was about both Ayurveda and clean beauty. The all Canadian team worked with leading Ayurvedic doctors in Kerala, India to develop the products but that wasn’t enough, Lisa wanted to prove their efficacy. All of Sahajan's products have been through extensive regulatory reviews, clinical trials and consumer testing and are all made in Canada. Sahajan does not make any claims that aren’t backed up by science.
