Such a beautiful fragrance - subtle, elegant. Impeccable and kind customer service by Etiket as well. Thank you! Stay safe and healthy.
Blenheim Bouquet is another star in the Penhaligon's stable. Named after Blenheim Palace, it conjures images of the Palace, the Dukes of Marlborough, and of course their most famous son, Winston Churchill (who reportedly wore Blenheim Bouquet). This also continues the traditions from the old estate walled garden days when new varieties of fruit, vegetables or flowers cultivated in the garden would be named after the estate (as in the Blenheim Orange Melon).
Blenheim Bouquet could be considered the philosophical opposite to my beloved Hamman Bouquet. Where Hamman is rich and warm, Blenheim is cool and austere, the essence of Edwardian aristocratic civility, a scent that is conservative, and indeed aristocratic, a very far cry from many of the overly sweet men's scents on the market today.
Blenheim opens up with citrus - cool ripe lemons and limes in the walled gardens glass house, the scent amplified by the warm air, mixed in gentle notes of the lavender growing along the sides of the path.
As it develops, Blenheim goes right for the base notes. (as Penhaligons states "There are no heart notes" ) This is where the real magic happens. A wonderful pine note, almost a cedar emerges, mixed with black pepper, and a touch of a musk note. The pine and pepper carry the scent to its conclusion, well mixed, neither dominating, cool, crisp, confident. The balancing of the all the notes is superb, and perfect.
Longevity is decent at 4 hours on my skin, and projection is good.
This is what Lord Grantham would smell of.. a perfect match to Lady Grantham's Shailmar. This is Edwardian civility in a bottle. I would consider this to be a classic, and a daily wearer. If you are building a Penhaligon's library, this is a must have. It gets no better than this.
