"Athenaeum", an archaic word for library or reading room, might conjure images of a dizzying accumulation of printed matter, church-high and humming with secrets. But to us, “Athenaeum” avoids comfy "old book smell" clichés. Waves of silver mist erupt from a carved beeswax fountain splashing with river water. Initially brooding, it freshens as it develops: rustic echoes of wild herbs are woven into a strangely industrial shimmer, like a chrome-plated truck running on lavender motor oil.
